Why M2 Steel for the blades?

When you consider the timbers often encountered in Australia, it's easy to see why M2 steel would be the logical choice. It provides a combination of hardness, toughness, wear resistance, and edge retention. The bonus is that M2 works every bit as well in softer North American and European woods.

M2 is no more difficult than all of the other woodworking tool steels you are used to already. Whether you use oil or water stones, diamonds or sandpaper, you will get your M2 blades as sharp as anything you already have, and you will have to spend less time sharpening.

You can read a blog on M2 Steel here (Link to blog) by MTC North American Ambassador Vic Tesolin.

Where are the tools manufactured?

Our tools are designed and developed in Melbourne, Australia, and manufactured in China.

Are your tools manufactured in the same facility as other planes made in China?

No. During our research and development process, we sought out a facility that manufactured machine tooling, machining to high tolerance levels, and with a background in casting. We wanted to be certain that our tools would be precise and made to our specific standards.
